Located in the vicinity of Sirinhaém in the state of Pernambuco, 75km from its capital Recife; Usina Trapiche is placed at Zona da Mata (Brazilian Northeast Semi-Rural Area) on the south coast of the state. The climate is characterised by a dry season between the months of October and February - maximum temperature of 34ºC - and a rainy season from May to August - minimum temperature 21ºC. Its name comes from its first location, the old Engenho Trapiche (Trapiche Mill), in which there was a small port through which sugar was transported.
